ID Department Warns of Scam Misusing Hotline and WhatsApp Services

The Department of Registration of Persons has issued a warning over a fraudulent scheme in which an unidentified group is collecting personal information by misusing the department’s hotline and WhatsApp services.

According to the department, the individuals are using the numbers 115226126, +94115226126, and 0115226126 to contact members of the public and request sensitive personal details.

Acting Commissioner General M.C.P. Suriyapperuma emphasized that the department does not contact individuals to obtain personal information through such means.

The public has been strongly advised not to share any personal details via these channels and to remain vigilant against such scams.
