Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, says that when domestic investment is insufficient, Sri Lanka must bring in the required technology and capital from abroad.
Speaking to the media, he stressed that support from the International Monetary Fund is also necessary in this process.
However, he warned that if the IMF refuses to provide relief for such efforts, the country could face serious difficulties, as it would be impossible to service its debts solely with domestic tax revenue.
Karunanayake emphasized that Sri Lanka must attract new investors if it hopes to overcome its financial challenges, noting that economic expansion depends on such inflows.
He added that bringing in new investors will create fresh revenue streams for the country and strengthen the overall economy.
