The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will review Sri Lanka’s recent tax revisions, with a comprehensive assessment of these changes to be included in the staff report following the approval of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program for Sri Lanka, according to an IMF spokesperson.
On November 23, IMF staff and Sri Lankan authorities reached a Staff-Level Agreement on the Third Review under the EFF arrangement. Once the review is completed and approved by the IMF Executive Board, Sri Lanka will gain access to $333 million in financial support.
IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack confirmed on Thursday that the Executive Board meeting is expected to take place in the coming months after the authorities implement the prior actions. She also noted that a full evaluation of the newly announced tax revision measures will be incorporated into the staff report following the approval of the program by the IMF Executive Board.
