IMF to Send Fact-Finding Mission to Sri Lanka to Assess Cyclone Ditwah Impact

January 16, 2026

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced that it will deploy a fact-finding mission to Sri Lanka from January 22 to January 28 to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

IMF Communications Department Director Julie Kozack said the visiting team will also hold discussions on related policy implications under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme.

She emphasized that the visit is strictly a fact-finding mission, intended to provide IMF staff with a clearer and more accurate understanding of the situation on the ground following the cyclone.
