In a rare and historic humanitarian gesture amid longstanding tensions, India has granted permission for a Pakistani relief aircraft carrying aid for cyclone-hit Sri Lanka to transit through its airspace, WION News reported.
According to official sources, Pakistan submitted the request at 13:00 IST on 1 December, and India cleared it by 17:30 the same day following an expedited approval process. Reports circulating earlier claiming that New Delhi had denied the request were inaccurate.
Despite the ongoing airspace closure between the two nations—imposed after renewed tensions earlier this year—India approved the transit purely on humanitarian grounds, marking a significant moment in regional cooperation.
