Inflation Eases to 1.6% in February as Food Prices Decline

Sri Lanka’s overall inflation rate, measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), declined to 1.6% in February 2026, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

This marks a decrease from the 2.4% recorded in January.

Food inflation saw a notable drop to 1.1% in February, compared to 3.4% in the previous month.

However, non-food inflation increased slightly to 1.9% in February, up from 1.6% in January.
