The Department of Meteorology has forecast intermittent showers today (June 13) in several regions including the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-Western provinces.
According to the department, heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.
Additionally, light to moderate showers are expected in the Northern Province and in the Anuradhapura district.
The Met Department has also warned of strong winds ranging from 50 to 60 km/h, particularly over the western slopes of the central hills, and across the Northern, North-Central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Southern provinces, including the Trincomalee district.
The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage from temporary, localized strong winds.
