Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force Ships Arrive in Colombo on Goodwill Visit

Two vessels of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), BUNGO and ETAJIMA, arrived at the Port of Colombo (April 1) on a goodwill visit, the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) announced.

The visiting ships were welcomed by the SLN in accordance with naval traditions. JMSDF BUNGO, a 141-meter-long Uraga-Class Minesweeper Tender, is commanded by Commander Tanaka Koji and operates with a crew of 125. Meanwhile, JMSDF ETAJIMA, a 65-meter-long Minesweeper, is under the command of Commander Oda Takayuki and has a crew of 54.

During their stay, the crew members will visit various tourist attractions in Colombo. The vessels are scheduled to depart on April 4.
