Miyon Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, met with the Speaker of Parliament, Asoka Ranwala, at the Sri Lankan Parliament.
The Secretary General of Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, was also in attendance.
During the meeting, Ambassador Lee congratulated the newly appointed Speaker and highlighted the enduring relationship between South Korea and Sri Lanka.
She reiterated South Korea’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s development and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.
The Ambassador discussed ongoing projects in Sri Lanka, expressing optimism about expediting their completion through productive engagements with the new government.
She specifically mentioned that the Kandy Tunnel project is nearing its final stages of commencement.
Ambassador Lee also emphasized her intention to enhance inter-parliamentary relations and proposed implementing leadership and capacity-building programs for Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff.
In response, Speaker Ranwala affirmed his dedication to advancing the strong partnership between Sri Lanka and South Korea and expressed gratitude for South Korea’s continued support in achieving mutual objectives.
