The Ministry of Health has reported 75 cases of Leptospirosis in the Northern Province this month alone, with five patients currently receiving treatment in hospital.
The disease has claimed the lives of eight people in the province. Nationally, nearly 12,000 cases of Leptospirosis have been recorded, with over 200 deaths reported so far this year.
The Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit has urged the public to seek medical attention if they experience a fever lasting several days as a precautionary measure against the illness.
