The Ministry of Environment has announced a new initiative to establish local committees dedicated to protecting small forests across the country.
These committees will be formed with the participation of residents living near forest areas, ensuring community-led conservation efforts.
Deputy Minister of Environment Anton Jayakody stated that the responsibility for protecting and maintaining these forests will be entrusted to the newly formed committees, which are expected to be established soon.
