The Maldivian, the flag carrier of the Maldives, has announced the commencement of its highly anticipated service to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) starting April 25.
With eager anticipation to welcome passengers onboard, Maldivian Airlines will operate two weekly flights to Colombo, departing every Thursday and Saturday. This strategic expansion underscores Maldivian’s commitment to connecting the Maldives with key international destinations, enriching travel options for passengers and fostering cultural and economic exchange between the two nations.
Commenting on the launch of the new destination, Managing Director of Maldivian, Ibrahim Iyas, expressed their long-awaited desire to serve Colombo, bridging the Maldives and Sri Lanka for both business and leisure purposes. He emphasized, “This marks an expansion of our international network and our commitment to connect the Maldives to the world. We would like to thank all the authorities and partners involved for supporting and making this new route possible.”
Ticket bookings for the new Colombo route are now available through all of Maldivian’s sales channels, including the website, mobile application, and ticketing offices, enabling travelers to plan and secure their journeys well in advance. Maldivian will operate two weekly flights to Colombo to accommodate the needs of both leisure and business travelers, offering options for weekend trips. Passengers will have the opportunity to connect to Maldivian’s extensive domestic network of 16 destinations with convenient connections.
