A large-scale search and rescue operation is currently underway across northern Nepal following catastrophic flash floods in the Rasuwa region, with authorities confirming that no Sri Lankan nationals are among the hundreds of foreigners reported missing.
According to official figures released by the Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 644 people are presently unaccounted for. The missing group consists of 127 Nepalese citizens alongside 517 foreign nationals hailing from 32 different countries.
Breakdown of Foreign Nationals Missing
– Highest Impacted Nations: Indian nationals make up the vast majority of the missing foreign travelers, with 178 individuals unaccounted for.
– Western & Eastern European Countries: High numbers of missing tourists include 65 Americans, 53 Ukrainians, 33 British nationals, and 25 Canadians.
– Asia-Pacific Region: The report lists 51 Malaysians, 35 Australians, 9 Singaporeans, 5 Japanese, and 5 New Zealanders.
– Other European & Global Regions: Additional missing reports include 8 Germans, 8 Russians, 6 Latvians, 6 South Africans, 4 French, 3 Belgians, and 3 Spaniards.
– Smaller Contingents: Two nationals each from Italy, Ireland, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, and Portugal remain missing. Single individuals have been listed from Belarus, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, the Philippines, Serbia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Nepal’s security forces and dedicated disaster relief teams have mobilized extensive resources across the Rasuwa district to navigate difficult terrain, locate survivors, and clear flood debris. Emergency support units and local tourism authorities continue to coordinate around the clock to assist affected travelers and track down those listed as missing.
