The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber Advisory for strong winds affecting the Central, Northern, and North Central provinces, as well as the Rathnapura, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts.
The advisory, issued at 11.00 a.m. today (05), will remain in effect until 11.00 a.m. tomorrow (06).
According to the Department, strong winds of 40–50 kmph are expected at times over the affected areas due to the prevailing active south-west monsoon conditions.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to remain vigilant, particularly in areas prone to strong winds, and to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage.
The public is also urged to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and advisories issued by the Department.
