Meteorology Department Issues Amber Advisory for Heavy Rainfall Across Several Provinces

The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory warning of heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters over the next 24 hours in several parts of the island.

According to the department, Northeast monsoon conditions are gradually establishing over the country.

Under its influence, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, and Uva provinces.

Heavy showers of more than 100 millimeters are likely in certain areas of the Northern, Eastern, and North-Central provinces.

The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning during thundershowers.
