Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, has been crowned Miss Universe in Bangkok, marking a dramatic turn in what has become one of the world’s most controversial beauty pageants.
The 25-year-old beauty queen had withdrawn from the competition in early November after a Thai official publicly berated her in front of several contestants and threatened to disqualify anyone who supported her. The incident sparked public outrage, and within a week, two judges resigned—one alleging that the pageant had been rigged.
Despite the controversy, Bosch’s victory has been widely celebrated in Mexico, with news of her win spreading rapidly across social media. However, some critics claim the organizers may have awarded her the crown as an attempt to compensate for the earlier humiliation.
Miss Thailand Praveen Singh secured the first runner-up position, while Miss Venezuela Stephanie Abasali placed third. Miss Philippines Ma Ahtisa Manalo and Miss Ivory Coast Olivia Yess completed the top finalists.
