Members of Parliament will now be required to pay Rs. 2,000 for their meals, following a decision by the Parliamentary House Committee to raise the fee from the previous Rs. 450.
The new meal prices, which took effect on January 1, 2025, are as follows: breakfast will now cost Rs. 600, lunch will be priced at Rs. 1,200, and evening tea will cost Rs. 200.
Today marks the first parliamentary session since the fee increase was implemented.
In addition to the meal fee discussion, Parliament will also debate two key regulations under the Foreign Exchange Act and the Import and Export Control Act.
