The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has announced that National Early Childhood Care and Development Week will be observed from today (14) until July 20, 2026.
This year’s programme will be held under the theme, “Towards a Developing Child World – A Sunbeam, A Happy Family.”
The initiative aims to promote the healthy physical, psychosocial and intellectual development of Sri Lankan children during their early years.
To mark the week, the Ministry has organised a series of awareness and community-based programmes across the island, according to Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj.
The Minister said the campaign is intended to build greater public awareness of early childhood care and development while promoting access to quality services for young children.
She noted that the week-long programme will educate parents and communities on the vital role early childhood development plays in shaping children’s future and encouraged families to “Be aware and act for the sake of your child.”
