National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) said information on schools located in risk-prone areas has been shared with relevant Zonal and District Education Offices, as moderate rainfall is forecast during the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) examination period.
Senior Geologist Dr. Wasantha Senadeera advised that schools identified as vulnerable should strictly follow instructions previously issued during adverse weather conditions.
He also urged the public to prioritize safety by adhering to official guidelines related to road use, school premises, and public gathering areas.
The 2025 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination is scheduled to be held from February 17 to February 26.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka said a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the Southeast Bay of Bengal starting tomorrow (15). Accordingly, the Department requested the public to remain vigilant and closely follow upcoming weather forecasts and official announcements.
