The Ministry of Digital Economy says a new feature has been introduced to the re-implemented National Fuel Pass system from today (March 19) to resolve difficulties faced by users in obtaining QR codes for previously registered vehicles.
According to the ministry, many users encountered issues when trying to remove existing registrations and re-register vehicles, particularly when the original phone number used for registration was no longer in use.
The new feature is designed to eliminate these barriers and allow users to obtain QR codes more easily.
Under the updated system, users can verify vehicle identity by entering the correct vehicle number and chassis number.
Even if a vehicle is already registered under another phone number, users can now input the correct details, cancel the existing registration and re-register the vehicle under a new number.
When the ‘Override’ option is selected, the previous account and all associated data will be removed, and a new account with the current user’s details will be activated immediately.
The ministry noted that once the override process is completed, the previous user will lose all access and privileges related to that vehicle.
However, the feature is intended to ensure that the rightful owner can obtain the QR code without inconvenience, especially in cases where vehicles were previously registered under another person or inactive phone numbers.
The Ministry of Digital Economy also warned that removing vehicle details from the system without legal ownership or proper authorization is an offence and may result in legal action.
