No Fuel Shortage Expected Until End of April – CPC

March 5, 2026

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) says there will be no fuel shortage in the country until the end of April, despite the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

CPC Chairman D. A. Rajakaruna stated that the current situation in the Middle East has not disrupted Sri Lanka’s fuel import operations.

He noted that a vessel carrying 90,000 metric tons of crude oil is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on March 11. The vessel departed last night from Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and is currently en route to the island.

Rajakaruna further said that necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the continuous transportation of crude oil to Sri Lanka despite the prevailing regional situation.

Accordingly, he assured that the CPC has the capacity to maintain uninterrupted fuel distribution in the country during the coming period.
