Nominations for the upcoming election to appoint the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) were submitted on January 15, 2025.
The election is scheduled to take place on February 19, 2025.
This year, three candidates are vying for the prestigious position:
- Attorney-at-Law Rajeev Amarasuriya
- Attorney-at-Law Dr. Sunil Abeyaratne
- President’s Counsel Anura Meddegoda
The nominations were officially submitted at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
The BASL presidential election is a significant event in Sri Lanka’s legal community, as it determines the leadership for the upcoming term.
