The National People’s Power (NPP) is set to present a bill in Parliament on April 8, aiming to reclaim state property that was unlawfully or improperly acquired under previous administrations, MP Chandana Suriyarachchi announced.
The proposed legislation will facilitate the legal confiscation of assets and funds obtained through the misuse of state resources for personal gain.
“The country’s past rulers, along with their associates and relatives, have exploited public funds and state resources, converting them into personal wealth. This bill introduces new laws to recover such ill-gotten assets,” MP Suriyarachchi stated.
He emphasized that the NPP is committed to addressing public grievances and ensuring accountability.
“We are taking concrete steps to fight corruption and uphold the people’s trust—without unnecessary spectacle,” he added.
