Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake says productive discussions are currently underway to merge the UNP with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
Speaking to the media, the MP said both parties are committed to making the merger a success.
However, he warned that anyone unwilling to support the unification process would be excluded, stressing that there is no room for internal resistance.
He added that the reason both parties are currently in opposition is because they contested separately, noting that had they worked together earlier, they could have formed the government. He emphasized that unity is essential for building a stronger political force going forward.
