A total of 237,026 students have qualified for the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) based on the results of the 2024 G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination, according to Commissioner General of Examinations, A.K.S. Indika Kumari.
This figure represents 73.45% of the total number of candidates who sat for the exam.
Addressing a press conference at the Department of Examinations this morning, the Commissioner General noted that 13,392 students achieved outstanding results by obtaining ‘A’ passes in all nine subjects — accounting for 4.15% of all candidates.
Meanwhile, 2.34% of students failed all subjects.
Among the provinces, the Southern Province recorded the highest pass rate, with 75.64% of candidates qualifying for the A/L. The full list of provincial pass rates is as follows:
