The People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has announced that more than 3,000 observers will be deployed to monitor the 2025 local government elections.
PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that 160 officers, one per electoral constituency, have already been assigned for the observation process. The monitoring initiative is led by Executive Director Manjula Gajanayake.
The local government elections are scheduled to take place on May 6, 2025. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has confirmed that the expenditure limits for candidates will be officially gazetted next week.
