Pakistan Sends Additional 200 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Sri Lanka After Cyclone Ditwah

December 11, 2025

Pakistan will dispatch an additional 200 tons of humanitarian relief supplies to Sri Lanka to support communities affected by the recent cyclonic storm, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced on Thursday.

According to a press release, the minister said the decision followed his meetings with Sri Lankan leaders in Colombo and an on-site assessment of the situation, which concluded that increased assistance is essential to address the medium-term needs of affected families.

Junaid Chaudhry confirmed that a shipment carrying 200 tons of relief goods has already been sent by sea and is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka by 13 December.

“The consignment includes tents, blankets, quilts, mosquito nets, camping lamps, mats, life jackets, inflatable boats, dewatering pumps, medicines, milk powder, and ready-to-use therapeutic food,” he said.

He added that Pakistan Navy ships and aviation units are currently engaged in relief efforts in Sri Lanka, supporting rescue operations, transportation, and emergency response activities. Naval teams are working closely with local authorities to assist communities in the hardest-hit regions.

The minister visited Sri Lanka on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to convey Pakistan’s solidarity following Cyclonic Storm Ditwah.

Junaid Chaudhry reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to helping Sri Lanka recover from the humanitarian and infrastructural damage caused by the disaster.
