The House Committee of Parliament has approved an increase in daily meal charges for Members of Parliament, setting the new rate at Rs. 2,000. This announcement was made today (23) by Deputy Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Gamagedara Dissanayake, during a parliamentary session.
Under the revised rates, breakfast at the Parliament canteen will cost Rs. 600, lunch will be priced at Rs. 1,200, and tea will be charged at Rs. 200. These changes are set to take effect from February 01, 2025.
The decision reflects adjustments to the meal pricing structure, ensuring better alignment with current costs.
