A pharmacy in Embilipitiya has been seized by authorities after it was found to have been funded with proceeds from drug trafficking, according to the Illegal Assets Investigation Division.
Investigations revealed that the establishment was purchased under the name of the wife of a known drug trafficker, identified as Jayasingharachchige Hemanta.
Police stated that the estimated value of the seized property exceeds Rs. 30 million.
The operation was conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, marking a significant step in efforts to dismantle assets linked to organized crime.
