Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya met with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at Lusail Palace to convey the condolences of the Government and people of Sri Lanka following the passing of the late former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
According to the Official Press Department of the Emirate of Qatar, Prime Minister Amarasooriya and her delegation personally conveyed Sri Lanka’s sympathies to the Emir during the meeting.
The event was attended by Qatar’s Deputy Emir, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, members of the late former Emir’s family, and several senior Qatari officials.
Prime Minister Amarasooriya departed for Qatar on Monday to represent Sri Lanka at the official condolence ceremonies held in honour of the late former Emir.
