Sri Lanka Police say instructions have been issued to all Officers-in-Charge of police stations across the island to ensure that law and order is maintained during the implementation of the QR-based fuel distribution system.
Police Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler stated that legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to misuse, manipulate or violate the QR system.
ASP Wootler also urged the public to remain patient and cooperate with the police while obtaining their fuel requirements during this period.
He further noted that mobile patrols and additional police officers have been deployed across every police division in the country to maintain order and support the implementation of the system.
