Sri Lanka Police have issued a special advisory for students, parents and alumni attending annual inter-school cricket tournaments, urging them to maintain discipline, ensure safety and respect public order.
These tournaments, held annually among selected schools, attract large gatherings of students in official uniforms along with parents and alumni, creating vibrant atmospheres of enthusiasm and school pride.
Police emphasized that the conduct of participants directly reflects the dignity and reputation of their respective schools.
Guidelines for Students and Participants
Schoolchildren and parents have been requested to observe the following:

Conduct themselves in public places in a manner that upholds the honour and prestige of their school.

Refrain from excessive shouting or obstructing roads, thereby causing inconvenience to the public or motorists.

Avoid disputes or altercations with students of other schools.

Exercise caution and avoid unsafe travel practices, particularly when riding on lorries, trucks or other vehicles.

Do not drive without a valid licence or operate vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Police warned that the law will be strictly enforced.

Follow instructions and safety guidelines issued by Police during vehicle parades.

Refrain from possessing or consuming alcohol or narcotic substances within stadium premises.

Avoid using cigarettes or illicit drugs, as legal action will be taken.

Refrain from provoking rival schools, engaging in verbal abuse or sharing offensive or hateful content on social media.
Advisory to Parents and Guardians
Parents and guardians have also been urged to:

Closely monitor the activities and locations attended by their children.

Ensure that their children return home at appropriate times.

Exercise greater responsibility and supervision when providing vehicles for parades or related activities.
Police stressed that any unlawful behaviour, public disturbance or damage to property will result in firm legal action.
Authorities encouraged all parties to act responsibly, demonstrate mutual respect and contribute to ensuring a safe and enjoyable tournament environment.
