Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, announced that police have intensified drug raids across Sri Lanka during the New Year festive season.
In addition to cracking down on illegal narcotics, special operations are also being conducted to identify and apprehend drunk drivers on the roads.
The Minister urged the public to take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk of accidents during the celebrations.
To ensure public safety, more than 35,000 police officers have been deployed across the island during the festive period.
