The Sri Lanka Police announced that steps will be taken to detain and interrogate notorious underworld figure Sujeewa Ruwankumara De Silva, alias ‘Loku Pattie,’ if necessary, following his return to the country this morning from Belarus.
He arrived in Sri Lanka at approximately 7:45 a.m. today on a flight operated by a private airline, transiting through Dubai.
Providing an update on the case, Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Buddhika Manatunga stated that ongoing investigations have confirmed ‘Loku Pattie’s’ involvement in multiple serious crimes, including the recent assassination of Wasantha Perera—commonly known as ‘Club Wasantha’—in Athurugiriya, as well as several other murders, drug trafficking, and illegal possession of firearms.
SSP Manatunga described ‘Loku Pattie’ as a high-profile criminal who has long been wanted for these offenses. He emphasized that all necessary legal proceedings will be pursued in full accordance with Sri Lankan law.
The Police Spokesman further revealed that ‘Loku Pattie’ is the 11th wanted individual repatriated to Sri Lanka in the past four months, underscoring the authorities’ continued efforts to apprehend fugitives who have committed crimes domestically and sought refuge abroad.
