Postal Ballots for 2025 Local Government Elections to Be Handed Over Today

The Election Commission has announced that arrangements have been made to hand over the sealed packets containing registered postal ballot papers for 114 Local Government institutions to the Postal Department today (April 7).

Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake, stated that following the conclusion of the relevant judicial procedures, steps will be taken to distribute postal ballots to the remaining Local Government institutions.

Meanwhile, Postmaster General S.R.W.M.R.P. Sathkumara confirmed that all preparations have been completed to receive the packets containing registered postal ballots for the 2025 Local Government Elections.

Responding to a query from Ada Derana, Sathkumara said that the distribution of postal ballots will begin either this afternoon or tomorrow (April 8).

Additionally, the Department of Government Printing has confirmed that the printing of all postal ballot papers for all Local Government institutions has been completed.

Government Printer Pradeep Pushpakumara further noted that the relevant postal ballots have already been handed over to the Election Commission.
