The Department of Posts says postal parcel deliveries will now take place every other day as a measure to manage the ongoing fuel crisis.
Deputy Postmaster General Premachandra Herath stated that the decision was taken to reduce fuel consumption while maintaining essential postal services.
Accordingly, long-distance deliveries from Colombo will operate every other day on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.
These services will cover routes from Colombo to Jaffna via Vavuniya, Colombo to Batticaloa via Polonnaruwa, as well as Colombo to Badulla and Colombo to Kandy.
Deliveries from long-distance areas to Colombo and its suburbs will also be carried out on an alternate-day basis.
