Initial ministerial-level discussions for preparing Sri Lanka’s 2025 Budget have commenced under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
A key meeting focusing on the budget proposals for the Ministry of Education’s expenditure was held this morning (10) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, according to the President’s Media Division.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who also serves as the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Training, attended the discussions. Other notable participants included Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madhura Seneviratne, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Mahinda Siriwardena, and Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nalaka Kaluwawa, alongside senior officials from relevant ministries.
These discussions mark the beginning of a comprehensive process to allocate resources effectively for key sectors, with education taking a central role in shaping Sri Lanka’s development priorities for 2025.
