Preliminary Discussions on 2025 Budget Begin Under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s Patronage

Preliminary ministerial-level discussions for drafting the 2025 national budget commenced yesterday (11) at the Presidential Secretariat, under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The meeting focused on reviewing and refining budget proposals related to the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation.

Key participants included Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake; Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena; Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku; Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake; Secretary to the Ministry of Finance K. M. Mahinda Siriwardana; Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Senior Professor Kapila C.K. Perera; and officials from the relevant ministry.

These discussions mark an initial step in the formulation of the 2025 budget, focusing on ensuring efficient allocation of resources to critical infrastructure sectors.
