President Anura Kumara Dissanayake returned to Sri Lanka this morning (13) following a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he attended the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai.
He arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at 8:25 a.m. onboard Emirates flight EK-650 from Dubai.
President Dissanayake traveled to the UAE on February 10 at the invitation of UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to participate in the prestigious global forum.
Key Highlights of the Visit
During his address at the summit, President Dissanayake outlined Sri Lanka’s vision for economic growth, innovation, and governance reforms, emphasizing the country’s commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation.
On the sidelines of the event, he held high-level bilateral discussions with:
- UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan
- UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
- Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah
Additionally, he engaged with Heads of State and Governments from several countries attending the summit and held discussions with CEOs of leading global companies in sectors such as IT, AI, Energy, Tourism, Finance, and Media to attract investments to Sri Lanka.
The visit is expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s bilateral relations with the UAE while fostering economic and diplomatic partnerships with other nations.
