President Dissanayake Announces Structural Reforms for Sri Lanka Customs

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has unveiled plans for significant structural reforms within Sri Lanka Customs to establish a modern and efficient institutional framework.

Speaking during a discussion on budget and institutional restructuring at the Presidential Secretariat, the President addressed senior Sri Lanka Customs officials about current inefficiencies, corruption, and growing public dissatisfaction.

To combat these issues, the government intends to introduce advanced technologies to streamline operations and improve service delivery. New restructuring plans were also presented during the meeting, which aimed to address existing challenges.

President Dissanayake emphasized the need for strict enforcement of laws to eradicate irregularities within Sri Lanka Customs. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing human resource management, expediting new recruitments, and improving infrastructure.

Acknowledging the revenue targets met by Customs in the previous year, the President discussed the necessary steps to achieve this year’s revenue goals.
