President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with the United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
During the meeting, the President expressed his gratitude for the continued support extended by the U.S. government—under the leadership of the U.S. President—through various aid and relief teams deployed to Sri Lanka following the recent disaster.
He also highlighted the importance of ongoing international assistance to restore key livelihood sectors such as agriculture, livestock, and small- and medium-sized enterprises, and to rebuild vital infrastructure including highways and railway networks.
Under Secretary Hooker reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to providing all necessary support for Sri Lanka’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.
She further emphasized the U.S. government’s readiness to strengthen cooperation in areas such as tourism promotion, trade expansion, maritime collaboration, and joint initiatives aimed at combating illicit drug trafficking in Sri Lanka.
