President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has directed officials to immediately settle all outstanding payments owed to sugarcane farmers in Sewanagala and Pelwatte.
The President issued these instructions during a review meeting held yesterday (Aug. 27) at the Presidential Secretariat to assess projects implemented under the 2025 budget allocation for the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, as well as to discuss pre-budget preparations for 2026.
He further instructed officials to identify and evaluate the services currently provided by the Ministry of Industries and its affiliated institutions. Based on their performance, the President emphasized the need to integrate relevant institutions, while also calling for new proposals to improve services for the public.
During the discussions, attention was also focused on the establishment of industrial zones, providing credit concessions to small and medium-scale entrepreneurs, and enhancing facilities in the export sector.
