The Anuradhapura to Thanthirimale road has been blocked at Oyamaduwa by a group of residents protesting the issue of wild elephants entering villages.
The protesters allege that a herd of elephants was relocated to the area, leading to severe crop damage. The demonstration began at 07:00 am today, with participants blocking the road and displaying placards along with various crops destroyed by the elephants.
Reports indicate that Police attempts to disperse the protest have been unsuccessful.
