Public Consultations on Proposed Electricity Tariff Hike to Begin February 25

February 22, 2026

Public comments on the electricity tariff revision proposal submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will commence on February 25, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced.

The PUCSL said it will accept both written and oral submissions from the public until March 18, with the consultation process set to cover all nine provinces.

The CEB has sought approval to increase electricity tariffs by 13.56% for the second quarter of 2026, covering the period from April 1 to June 30.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the consultation process and share their views before a final decision is made.
