The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced that oral sessions to gather public opinions on the proposed electricity tariff revision will commence on December 27, starting in Kandy.
These sessions will allow the public to voice their views on the tariff revision proposed by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the counter-proposal presented by the PUCSL.
The CEB submitted its proposal to the PUCSL on December 6, indicating that existing tariffs would remain unchanged for the next six months. In response, the PUCSL proposed a potential reduction in electricity tariffs ranging from 10% to 20%.
Public submissions in writing began on December 17, and the oral sessions mark the next phase in the consultation process.
The PUCSL has stated that a final report on the tariff revision, incorporating public feedback, will be published on January 17.
