The oral sessions to gather public opinions on the proposed electricity tariff revision are set to commence today (December 27).
The first session will be held in the Central Province at the District Secretariat in Kandy.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has submitted its tariff revision proposal to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), maintaining that the current tariffs will remain unchanged for the next six months, with no immediate revisions planned.
However, the PUCSL has presented a counter-proposal suggesting a possible reduction in electricity tariffs by 10% to 20%.
Public opinions on the matter have been accepted in writing since December 17, and oral sessions will run from today until January 10.
The PUCSL has invited the public to participate by registering through its hotline at 0772 943 193 to share their views on the proposed tariff changes.
According to Jayanath Herath, Director of Corporate Communications at the PUCSL, a comprehensive report on the tariff revision will be submitted on January 17, incorporating both written and oral feedback.
