On December 6, 2024, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) submitted its tariff revision proposal to the PUCSL, indicating that current tariffs will remain in effect for another six months.
Under the former government, it was proposed that electricity tariffs be revised quarterly. However, in 2023, three tariff revisions were implemented, while two adjustments were made in 2024. The current government has since limited revisions to twice annually.
The latest proposal aims to revise tariffs for the first half of 2025, with the revised rates expected to take effect in the third week of January.
