Railway technicians and technician assistants have commenced a 24-hour token strike from 7:00 a.m. today (June 26) in protest over unresolved overtime payment issues.
Nadeera Manoj, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Railway Workers’ Association (SLFRWA), stated that despite repeated efforts to bring the matter to the attention of the relevant authorities, no solution has been offered.
The strike is expected to affect maintenance and technical operations across the railway network during the 24-hour period.
