Former UNP Deputy Leader and Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake has raised alarm over the growing shortage of essential medicines in the country, warning that it has significantly undermined public trust in the government’s ability to ensure health security.
Addressing Parliament, Karunanayake noted that the crisis has severely impacted the availability of life-saving drugs, including antibiotics, insulin, and several other critical medications.
“This is a serious issue now,” he stressed, calling for immediate and decisive action to rectify the situation.
The MP also directed a question to the Minister of Health, seeking an update on the current status of drug availability in government hospitals and what steps are being taken to address the shortfall.
