Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) and Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake said that a nation can only achieve true development when fairness and quality are upheld.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake stressed the need for a new political culture to guide the country forward, noting that Sri Lanka has experienced severe political deterioration in recent years.
Having served in Parliament for more than three decades, he observed that instead of progressing, the institution has continued to decline day by day.
Karunanayake further warned that similar patterns of political decay are visible in other countries such as Nepal, calling it an extremely dangerous trend for democracy and governance.
